To be fair I did not know that we would be having our out of state guests when I choose the trail, but I should have known better once I had learned that they would be coming. So now you have an idea of how and why our trip didn’t go as planned.
We were topless, door free, and headed for the hills, we cruised through Georgetown and up Guanella Pass to the trailhead. We made it up three or four switchbacks, before the altitude sickness set into with one of our guests. We made the decision to stop immediately and hydrate, and head back down the trail. We got the opportunity for a few good photo ops but the best solution to altitude sickness is less altitude, so we came all the way back to Evergreen to recoup.
Even a short trip can result in amazing ideas. Kaylie and I were leading the group when we discussed the idea of an ice cream shop at the top of the trail, and that obviously lead to the terrific idea of a 4x4 ice cream truck for the trails, providing delicious treats to all the trail patrons! Coming to a trail near you! All I need to do is make enough money to pay for the parts that brake and maybe even upgrade! Needless to say I had a pretty bad craving for ice cream the rest of the day, and the rest of the weekend for that matter. So now I finally have my ice cream after a weekend of wheeling, bars (which is rare for me), and homework.
Another weekend gone, but not lost. We had a good time despite not making it up Argentine Pass. There will always be more weekends and more stories.
